What is this blog about?

Ever since Clinton left office and as I have grown closer and closer to entering the "real world" I have become increasingly interested in politics. Lately it seems that there has been so much general dissatisfaction of U.S. citizens with our current administration, as well as corruption within it. I now wonder how and why Bush was re-elected into office. That is what led me to creating this blog.

There so many issues that affect the way we United States citizens vote during elections, and I created this blog to explore those issues. I feel that belonging to political parties (mainly republican and democratic) prevents citizens from really opening up their minds to the facts of the issues at hand and the best solutions for those issues that need them. Therefore, when reading this blog I urge you to forget about your party affiliations and preferences, and open your mind to all views.

I have not revealed any information about myself for a reason. When you know background information about a person (especially the political party they are registered with) it automatically affects how you receive their views. If you are within the same party you look for points to agree on. If you are in an opposing party you look for points to disagree on. I have been guilty of this myself and I think it hurts us as Americans. People should not have the mentality that they will only vote for a candidate in their own party. If I had it my way, all U.S. citizens would be registered as Independents.

I am trying to open my mind and I hope that I can do the same for some of you. I am not registered as an Independent, but I wish I were. I will not say how I am registered, but I am sure it will quickly become obvious as you read my blogs.

So here's how this works:
I write blogs on issues or any random topic that I feel strongly about and would like views or opinions on. I urge everyone to comment and start a discussion. I ask that you not reveal any information (especially your political party affiliations) about yourself unless it is pertinent to your argument. The point is to have a discussion as fellow citizens who want the best for this country. Post comments, read others, and respond. Most importantly OPEN UP YOUR MIND. This blog dares you to understand where the "other side" is coming from.

Political discussions can get very heated, hence the title of this blog. Please practice tactful candor. I will not tolerate profanity, racial slurs, or any type of verbal abuse. Your comment will not be posted if I feel it is not constructive in nature. I am new to this blogging so bear with me in developing this site. I really hope everyone can get something positive out of it.
